Leopards in India are being Trapped through Ring-tones from Cell Phone

According to a new program to save life of passerby in the countryside of Gujarat, the western state of India, the approaching leopards are being distracted by the “mooing ring tones” from your  cell phone.
Instead of beating drums, the typical old and conventional way to scare away big cats , the villagers in Gujarat are now using "mooing", "clucking" and "bleating"  Ring-tones from Cell Phone to distract the leopards and keep them away from human settlements.

How it  Works

The leopards can be easily lured into the traps without harm by attaching a mobile phone to a cage and then playing one of the animal ring-tones continuously, said the local forest guards in the district of Gujarat India.

Note: Ever since the introduction of a new ‘Ring-tone Method’ in May 2007, it is reported that the local forest guards have captured at least five leopards and released them successfully back into the forests of Gujarat.  A senior forest official, D. Vasani told the news service - Reuters, "The moos of a cow or bleating of a lamb or goat from the phone has proved effective,"
