Keepers at an Indian zoo are celebrating the birth of two tiger cubs and the arrival of some rare cats.A tigress named Basanti gave birth to the cubs at the Mumbai park. Also joining the zoo are some rusty-spotted cats - one of the smallest cat species, with a head and body length of up to 19 inches and a weight of up to 3.5lb.

India has half the world's surviving tigers, but conservationists say the country is losing the battle to save them. There were about 40,000 tigers in India a century ago, but decades of poaching have cut their number to about 3,700, according to a count conducted in 2001 and 2002.Conservationists in 2007 said they believed the new census results suggested there was a decline of 65 per cent in the central state of Madhya Pradesh, which has one of the largest populations of tigers in India.
