Milwaukee zoo seeks names for 2 tiger cubs

Posted in : Zoo News

(added few years ago!)

The Milwaukee County Zoo needs your help in naming its two newest tiger cubs. The female Siberian tiger cubs were born three months ago. Zoo spokeswoman Jennifer Diliberti says officials are seeking names now because the cubs are finally old enough to venture out into the main exhibit.

The sister felines weigh about 20 pounds each. You can see pictures on the zoo's Web site. Their mother is named Amba (UM'-bah), after an anti-poaching group in Russia. The father is Bachuta (buh-SHOO'-tah), which Diliberti describes as a somewhat common Russian name. Entries for the cubs' names must include suggestions for both. They must be submitted by Oct. 23, either online or by mail. The winner gets a one-year zoo membership and other zoo-related prizes.
